Laboratory Assistant OCED is responsible for obtaining blood samples from patients, transporting samples and other potentially biohazardous specimens to the laboratory for medical testing, and processing specimens according to protocol and procedures, performing waived and moderately complex testing and associated quality activities in the OCED per procedures. Work situations require a high level of phlebotomy expertise, ability to multi-task, skill in critical thinking and problem solving. This position requires a service-oriented individual who can establish good, positive, and effective relations with all patients and staff, who has exceptional organization skills, pays attention to detail, and uses discretion and good judgment in decision-making. Internal contacts include MHS staff and management. External contacts include patients, patients families, and physicians
Experience in a hospital or clinic setting preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification or Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist eligible (MA-P) OR current Medical AssistantCertified (MA-C)
Current Washington State Drivers License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state
This position supports our Off Campus Emergency Department (OCED) clinic in Parkland, WA.
