Position Summary:

Full-time Group Life Counselor (Graveyard) position available for our Adult Treatment Center in Tacoma. This inpatient rehabilitation center is designed to provide culturally sensitive chemical dependency services to patients who are at high-risk and require constant care and empathy to help in dealing with their Substance use disorder.

The Group Life Counselor I is an entry level Human Service position that is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team providing direct services to patients in a residential setting. Direct services may include a combination of all of the following: group care, intake procedures, evaluation, individual and group counseling, milieu management, evaluation and supervision of patients. Services are provided to adults with a substance usage disorder(s) and who may also have mental health diagnoses.

The Group Life Counselor II is a mid-level Human Service position that is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team providing direct services to patients in a residential setting. Direct services may include a combination or all of the following: group care, intake procedures, evaluation, individual and group counseling, milieu management, evaluation, and supervision of patients. Services are provided to out-of- control, high-risk, chronic runaway youth and their families. These youth/adults have a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency and may also have mental health problems. A mid-level person is expected to have a, “moderate to complete” understanding of how to provide the direct services listed above.

This position requires proficient computer skills in order to conduct documentation in an electronic behavioral health and medical records system. An entry level person is expected to have a “base to moderate” understanding of how to provide the direct services listed above.

Education and/or Experience:

  • AA in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services or related field is required.
  • Candidate must have at least one-year experience working with high-risk or in treatment patient care.
  • BA preferred. Will be required to follow other instructions/duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organization, and willingness to contribute to the group and team overall.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products and other medical software and electronic processes is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
