About the team

Our Tenets:

  • Familiarity over novelty: We strive to use paradigms that customers are comfortable and familiar with. When we do invent, we create concepts that feel natural and easy to use, mapping to real-world mental models and conventions in order to be more readily understood by customers.
  • Guide and provide choice: We will assist customers to make the right choices for the household by suggesting options that cater to their needs and customer life cycle. Customers should feel comfortable making decisions for themselves.
  • Design for confidence over speed: We will bias toward experiences that prioritize clarity at the cost of up-front speed in order to achieve customer long-term confidence, trust, and efficiency.
  • Don’t sacrifice context for the sake of consistency: We strive to help the customer do what’s most important to them, including control, configure, and take action. We do this based on the customer’s environment, situation, and modality, and evolve patterns to accommodate new contexts as needed.
  • Strive for brevity, simplicity, and focus: Smart home is new tech with new paradigms, and our customers are learning as they go. Give customers a clear path forward by prioritizing information ruthlessly. Don’t add cognitive load by mixing messages.
