The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Transit Gateway team is looking to build a brand new cloud networking service that will operate at the kind of hyper-scales only seen at AWS. This is a unique opportunity to join a new team and product from the ground up.

We are seeking a results-oriented Senior Software Development Engineer who is passionate about both feature development and operational excellence, who can lead a team of world class engineers to deliver foundational software defined networking (SDN) services that can operate at hyper-scales. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading the development of highly available networking services in the SDN and SD-WAN spaces or related areas like switch and router development. They will have a passion for networking. They can both dive deep into technical domains, and lead a team to deliver a broad strategic vision. Most importantly the candidate will be curious and is excited to learn and keep growing in a fast paced, technically challenging environment.

Basic Qualifications

· 4+ years of professional software development experience

· 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

· 2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

Preffered Qualifications

· Experience building and operating cloud based and Internet-scale applications

· First-hand knowledge of the engineering challenges with large scale distributed systems

· Experience building networking applications and services

· Proficient with the systems and networking technologies like - hardware virtualization, operating systems, kernels/hypervisors, TCP/IP, BGP, SD-WAN

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Graduate degree a plus
