Job #71315 - Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef (I) for Lake Prince Woods Retirement Community in Suffolk, VA. This is home for 238 Independent, Assisted Living and Skilled residents nestled among 172 wooded acres just 3 miles from downtown Suffolk, in the southeast corner of Virginia. Residents have the options to dine in a restaurant style setting or enjoy a meal at the newly remodeled Bistro.

In this role, you report to the Dining Director and supervise 10 hourly employees. Responsible for food production and daily service in the kitchen, dining room, and bistro. This position will interface daily with the Residents to listen to and look for opportunities for innovation and creativity for program enhancements. Position monitors the HACCP program for regulatory compliance, trains and develops employees for technical and customer service skills, conducts inventory and places on-line orders. This is a hands-on leadership role!

Your Skills Check List for this opportunity;

Culinary Degree / Trade School Certificate and Servsafe Certificate

Senior / Fine dining experience in Restaurants / Country Clubs

Ability to manage inventory for a budget of 500K in volume

HR skills to train & develop culinary food production teams

Computer skills; food & labor management systems

Working knowledge of HACCP monitors for Regulatory Compliance

Menu Planning for resident dining, food retail and catering

Experience with quality standards for food production & service

Dynamic leadership skills for outcomes that exceed client and resident expectations

Typical schedule; 9am-6pm with some weekends / holidays based on events.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through executionKey Duties-Executes the culinary function-Customer & Client satisfaction-Manages food & physical safety program.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree Basic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
