Overview:

Veeco Instruments is currently seeking a mechanical engineer that will join the team to continue our success and growth into new markets and opportunities. This highly visible role is primarily responsible for the sensor design and development from concept through the production release.

Responsibilities:

* Direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication

* Perform FEM modeling and simulation analysis of new sensor design (mechanical, acoustical, flow dynamics, and thermal dynamic etc.)

* Create and revise detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of mechanical design layouts

* Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects

* Provides technical support for new and existing customers

* Identify unmet needs in the market based on customer interactions, which propels future growth

* Perform technical/ product training for sales people, channel partners and engineers at customer accounts

* Global travel to customer sites WW to perform start-up, integration, and training services

Qualifications:

* MS in engineering (mechanical or physics preferred)

* Modeling experience and simulation is required

* Experience with SolidWorks, Autocad and Matlab is required

* Experience 2–5 years in senor or transducer product design is a plus

* Knowledge of semiconductor process tools (ALD/CVD process is preferred)

* Self-driven and strong troubleshooting skills

* Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
