STEMI Coordinator - Part-time

Acts as the liaison between UPH-SL/CVA, referring hospitals and EMS agencies regarding appropriate STEMI care in accordance with the AHA Mission Lifeline guidelines and goals. Coordinates NCDR Registry submissions and education. Acts as a resource and assists with coordination of staff development, and provides leadership for local and city wide STEMI Meetings. Collaborates with Departmental Leaders, Mission Lifeline/AHA Staff/ and Physicians to improve the quality of care provided to patients, enhance the work process and coordinates feedback to outreach hospitals and EMS systems for the care of STEMI patients.


* Demonstrates clinical competency and leadership in the care of the STEMI patient.

* Acts as a role model for the team.

* Assists with implementing evidenced-based practice in policies and procedures.

* Builds relationships with other departments, outreach Hospitals and EMS systems.

* Provides local hospitals and EMS case reviews twice a month.

* Facilitates city wide STEMI meetings in collaboration with other entities.

* Attend the State of Iowa AHA/Mission Lifeline committee meetings.

* Facilitate with AHA/Mission Lifeline regional STEMI educational programs.

* Plan and implement city wide Mock STEMI drills yearly

* Review process improvement needs routinely with St. Luke's Physician Mission Lifeline Director.

* Review and coordinate NCDR Action and Cath/PCI Registries.

* Reports quarterly to the Cardiology group at Cath Conference.

* Effectively communicates and provides public education with Mission Lifeline Director.

* Practice indicates compliance with HIPAA, DNV, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.

* Provides written feedback of case reviews with Outreach hospitals and EMS on a monthly basis.

* Other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Mission Lifeline Physician Director or the Organization.


Minimum Requirements

Preferred or Specialized


* Graduate of accredited nursing, EMS/Paramedic, CVT or ARRT program

* Participation in Mission Lifeline


* 2-4 years of clinical practice

* Arrhythmia course preferred


* Current licensure or certifications in good standing to practice in the State of Iowa.

* Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

* BLS and ACLS preferred


* Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.

* Multicultural sensitivity.

* Microsoft Office/EXCEL/PowerPoint– basic computer skills.

* Customer/patient focused.

* Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

* Recent experience in presenting case studies to healthcare personnel
