Instructor/Clinical Coordinator Respiratory Care Program

Overview

Coordinates educational services in the clinical setting to achieve equity of student clinical experience according to the established standards of the designated program. Participates in classroom and clinical teaching.

Responsibilities

1. Selects course materials, instructional aids, and learning experiences.

2. Utilizes instructional strategies in didactic and clinical teaching.

3. Coordinates and maintains student evaluations and records.

4. Assists with academic and personal advising/counseling of students.

5. Maintains clinical competency.

6. Participates in assessment of student learning and college effectiveness.

7. Communicates effectively with colleagues.

8. Presents a positive image at college functions and activities.

9. Demonstrates professionalism.

10. Participates in scholarly activities.

11. Completes community service.

12. Coordinates clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the program director.

13. Evaluates and facilitates clinical education through a schedule of regular visits to the clinical education sites.

14. Follows college policy on entering information into the earning management system.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

* Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program, Baccalaureate degree in discipline or related area. Proficient in curriculum development, instruction, supervision, evaluation and counseling.

* Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

* Four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which at least two (2) years should have been spent in clinical respiratory care and at least two (2) years in a teaching position in an accredited respiratory care program.

Required Licenses/Certifications

* Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Current license in Iowa. Active registration in the pertinent discipline.
