'18-19 Streets to Home AmeriCorps - Seattle

Americorps Shoreline, WA
Homelessness is a crisis in King County. On any given night, over 11,000 people are experiencing housing insecurity and thousands are staying outside without shelter. United Way is committed to partnering with local agencies and caring people in our region to ensure that people in our community have homes. The Streets to Home Program does just that. AmeriCorps members leverage federal resources to take a client-lead approach to solve housing insecurity. Many people just need connection to a housing pathway, enrollment in a program, or a little financial assistance to make their housing goals a reality. AmeriCorps members are creative problem-solvers to help make client housing dreams a reality. Seattle is the main metropolitan city in King County, WA where thousands of people don't have a safe place to call home. We partner with Catholic Community Services to place a small team of AmeriCorps members to ensure people have access to housing resources and income supports. Members are supported both by United Way staff and CCS agency staff at service locations to ensure a meaningful and challenging service term.
