'18-19 Streets to Home AmeriCorps - North Seattle

Americorps Shoreline, WA
Homelessness is a crisis in King County. On any given night, over 11,000 people are experiencing housing insecurity and thousands are staying outside without shelter. United Way is committed to partnering with local agencies and caring people in our region to ensure that people in our community have homes. The Streets to Home Program does just that. AmeriCorps members leverage federal resources to take a client-lead approach to solve housing insecurity. Many people just need connection to a housing pathway, enrollment in a program, or a little financial assistance to make their housing goals a reality. AmeriCorps members are creative problem-solvers to help make client housing dreams a reality. Members serving in North Seattle will be placed with Solid Ground to maximize Streets to Home efforts. Solid Ground is a Seattle-based nonprofit working to end poverty and undo racism and other oppressions that are root causes of poverty in our community. Two AmeriCorps members will partner with staff to ensure people have access to housing resources and income supports. Members are supported both by United Way staff and Solid Ground agency staff at service locations to ensure a meaningful and challenging service term.
