Senior Technical Program Manager - AWS Direct Connect

Are you excited by the challenge that comes from driving large projects for one of AWS's successful customer facing product teams?

AWS is looking for a best-in-class Senior Technical Program Manager to support and grow the Direct Connect service. Direct Connect is the gateway for enterprise customers to access their VPCs (Virtual Private Cloud) through private connectivity between AWS and the customer's datacenter, office, or colocation environment. In this role you will work closely with network operations, system operations, software development, and product teams to deliver high quality, scalable features and also deploy infrastructure around the world. You will work with all the stakeholders to track responsibilities, identify appropriate resources needed, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.

Successful candidates will have a technical software background, familiarity of networking infrastructure, be detail driven, be agile and flexible in thinking, and have excellent problem solving abilities. You should be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but should also be obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, performance metrics, and continuous process improvement.

This candidate is also a leader who can prioritize well, communicate compellingly through meeting facilitation and status reporting, and who understands how to drive a high level of focus. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.

Candidate must be/have:

* Ability to derive project milestones and manage inputs across multiple projects in parallel.

* Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, weigh tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

* Identify, assess, track, and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels.

* Create, maintain, and disseminate project information to stakeholders and all levels of management.

* Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities. Must have excellent influencing skills.

* Determine priorities and facilitate the socialization of those priorities across the team and the org.

* Engage in high level networking discussions, and understand basic concepts of software development. Initiate/facilitate decision meetings, drive action items, drive follow-up, and show measurable progress.

* Experience with both traditional project management and agile development processes, and the ability to apply both.

* Desire to augment a fast paced engineering team as a high performance individual contributor.
