Contingent QC Proofreader (39770)

This position will be part of an art production team that develops packaging and inbox materials for a large pharmaceutical company. All creative efforts are coordinated with the client to maintain the integrity of the brand. The Proofreader will be a self-motivated team player capable of QC-ing and proofreading all components. They will ensure brand standards are met, requested corrections are made, styling is correct and consistent with master, run QC compare software to detect errors.


Work is typically performed under minimal daily supervision, receiving guidance from manager/supervisor about the work that needs to be completed. Able to exercise high level of discretion and latitude in completing tasks.

* Review materials to ensure finished products are in line with company Brand and desired look and feel.

* Check content from original copy to make sure all content made it into the layout. In addition, the person will be required to check dimensions, spacing and layout position for accuracy.

* Validate style and consistency against brand guidelines.

* Ensure accuracy in multi-version publications.

* Conduct proofreading, fact-checking, assist with research and maintain a style guide.

* Responsible to maintain the guidelines of brand identity on including checking logo usage, typography, Form numbers, fonts and other style elements.

* Review PDFs, and other production proofs against approved copy and designs, as part of review process.

* Assists in establishing, promoting and coordinating lines of communication various cross functional teams.

* Interacts with customers and division personnel regarding quality and production issues. Attends job production pre-planning meetings.

* Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

* Bachelor degree in English, journalism, communications or a related field or role with 3-5 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience.

* A minimum of three years' proofreading experience, preferably with an agency producing pharmaceutical artwork, proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite (especially Acrobat PRO) required.

* The candidate must have strong experience with AP style, knowledge of proofreading symbols, possess high attention to detail, and require minimal supervision.

* Able to demonstrate ability to solve complex problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.

* Must be able to recognize anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately.

* Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity.

* Able to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilizing a PC platform or other technical tools in completing assignments.

* Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.

* Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.

* Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.

* Actively seeks out best practices to promote efficiency in day-to-day operations

Preferred Skills:

* An understanding of art production, prepress and printing.

* Experience with Global Vision Software.
