Staff Engineer (Utility T&D Design, Construction)

In an EPC power engineering consulting environment, performs work associated with the coordination of engineering disciplines related to utility Substation, Transmission & Distribution projects to ensure that overlapping standards and client requirements are all addressed. The Office Engineer works closely with program and project managers to communicate and negotiate design changes as needed. The Office Engineer is also responsible for the assistance in writing RFP's, assisting in writing Work Plans and Scopes of Work.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Review and understand all program requirements and standards for assigned projects.

* Review all project documents and drawings for all assigned projects -- must understand documents and requirements relating to all stakeholders.

* Participate in Scheduling activities.

* Assist in the preparation of project by project Work Plans.

* Assist Writing Request for Proposals (RFP's) as required for the project.

* Assist in the preparation of City, County and any other Permit applications that may be required for the Project.

* Identify any conflicts between standards and either negotiate resolution or refer negotiation to PMO for resolution.

* Maintain project and program tracking systems as necessary and in coordination with PMO.

* Minimum Education: Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Civil or other related discipline.

* Prior experience in a fast-paced environment (utility power engineering or construction preferred).

* Must be proficient in use of office and engineering software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD).

* Excellent communication skills -- must be able to convey clear and concise information to multiple stakeholders, receive and transmit the same information to other stakeholders while being sensitive to the perspective of each.

* Must be reliable, organized, motivated, and able to perform under pressure.
