How do you build an inventory management system that supports hundreds of operators managing data centers and changing data globally, and yet create a high quality inventory data product to drive billions of dollars of decisions?
How do you build a robust platform to manage the multi-year lifecycle and processes involved in building and launching a new data center? How do you streamline the financial decision making & reporting that goes into these investmnents?
How do you create a graph of every single networking device used in every AWS data center across the globe, and use it to identify where & how we deploy more capacity our customers require?
How do we make our systems robust, yet flexible enuogh to enable the rapid pace of innovation across all aspects of data center infrastructure - completely new hardware designs, next generation network design & devices, more efficient data center designs.
The AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation team looks to solve these and other challenges in the ever evolving cloud infrastructure space. We do this by partnering very closely with ground teams running operations globally, experimenting with solutions, measuring results, iterating and delivering final solutions that will scale for AWS' scale of operations.
We are looking for Support Engineers, who will internalize our global data & software management processes and set up quality gating and data correction mechanisms for the myriad channels through which we ingest data to create a consolidated picture of available capacity at data centers. They will identify failure points and bottlenecks both in existing systems, as well as in operational processes followed by partner teams / data providers - and create tools/scripts/processes to address these gaps, or add features to the team's product backlog. They will monitor health of production systems and services and ensure they are kept updated to meet AWS standards. Engineers will also work with partner teams to map out processes and best practices and drive adherence.
