Desciption

The Builder Tools organization within Amazon Web Services (AWS) at Amazon is looking for a talented Software Development Manager to join the Amazon Security Automated Patching team. Builder Tools owns and builds every aspect of our products from the UI and external APIs down to the backend services and databases. These teams specifically own the software and systems that help Amazon’s massive developer community turn revolutionary ideas into code running on production servers.

Our team owns the software and systems that help Amazon’s millions of internal hosts to be automatically patched with the latest security updates to keep them current and secured. Our systems make it possible for every system at Amazon to be patched without having to jeopardize the availability our customers expect. We deliver the technology that powers fully automated patching! We are looking for managers who are passionate about making our hosts secure without service owners' intervention.

Our service makes it possible for every service at Amazon to rapidly update their hosts without ever having to take an outage. With a few mouse clicks, or a fully automated continuous deployment workflow, our automated patching service manages the host security to allow Amazon engineers to focus on their services, code changes and new features to the customer, all because of the magic we provide. What we do makes a difference.

If you have what we’re looking for come join a strong team in a highly visible organization. You will have a significant impact on Amazon's massively distributed software development environment and help us to build the best continuous deployment and fleet management system in the world. If you’re excited to have a large impact on AWS and the cloud computing industry, you’ll find this role to be engaging, challenging, and full of opportunities to learn and grow.

As the Software Development Manager of this team you will play a critical role in shaping the product definition, design, roadmap, and development of the product. You will:

· Hire, retain, and grow top management and engineering talent within your team.

· Be a clear technical voice, working in partnership with other teams to deliver services which will scale with the needs of the Amazon business.

· Quickly and reliably deliver high quality technical solutions that will delight Amazon engineers.

Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.

We have a formal mentor search application that lets you find a mentor that works best for you based on location, job family, job level etc. Your manager can also help you find a mentor or two, because two is better than one. In addition to formal mentors, we work and train together so that we are always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.
