Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a six-year grant funded by the U.S. Department of Ed to significantly increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. GEAR UP Highline's vision is that all students are academically, socially, and financially prepared to enter and complete the postsecondary program or institution of their choice. The Student Success Coach will serve at 1 of 8 middle and high schools in Highline Public Schools to provide critical coordination of services including comprehensive mentoring, outreach, tutoring, family engagement, and supportive services to increase student engagement. The Success Coach will collaborate with staff to identify a cohort of students using Early Warning Indicators and deliver individualized interventions and supports to increase attendance and academic success and eliminate barriers. The coach will serve students in a classroom setting, individually, in small groups, and after school to provide academic assistance & social emotional supports and will work collaboratively with a broad range of partners including teachers, counselors, parents, families, and community partners to ensure students don't fall of track academically and graduate prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondaryThe Success Coach will also contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the GEAR UP project including preparing and delivering dynamic and engaging programming during school breaks and for special events, workshops, advisory, etc. and support school and community events through activities, workshops, field trips, and cultural enrichment experiences.Position contingent on funding.
