This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership.

As an Aircraft Instructor, GS-2181-12, you will:

Fly aircraft during day and night over all kinds of terrain and in any weather.

Serve as pilot or co-pilot on various missions involving training, operational and/or administrative flights.

Direct, evaluate and issue technical guidance to aviation units on matters pertaining to aviation training, readiness reporting, the Aircrew Training Manual and National Guard Bureau (NGB) training management and planning.

Provide staff level supervision to training officers and noncommissioned officers in battalions and related requests for waivers of flying program requirements.

Manage and direcs the Additional Flight Training Period (AFTP) Program; audit and provide reports on utilization, entitlement, and total program execution.

Administer Flying Hour Program (FHP) and Operational Support Aircraft (OSA) priorities.

Ensure that all aviation support requirements will further collective training, both for aviation and supported ground units and will contribute to increased combat readiness.

Supervise and coordinates training program for ground commanders in use and planning for employment of Army aviation assets.

Serve as Aircraft Maintenance Manager and as a technical expert in the field of aircraft equipment maintenance with responsibility for coordination of intermediate and limited Depot Maintenance Programs for the Army Aviation Support Facilities (AASFs).

Provide coordination and interface between the aviation facilities and such staff offices as USPFO, Support Personnel Management Office, Public Affairs, Emergency Operations Center, Facilities Management Office, and State Maintenance Office to insure smooth operation and function of the State Aviation Maintenance Program.

Analyze the maintenance management system data to determine cause and effect of adverse trends and problems.

Collect information, provides advice, renders decisions, and prepares reports of corrective action regarding problems or adverse trends.

Manage Physical Security Program in the SAAO and provides staff level support and assistance to physical security/operational security managers of the aviation units in the state.

Staff responsibility for the Army Aviation accident prevention program, to include semi-annual safety meeting for all aircrew members.

Coordinate with the National Guard Bureau and the Army Aviation Center in matters pertaining to aviation safety.

Perform other duties as assigned.

General Experience: Must possess the appropriate pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings necessary for this position.

Specialized Experience: Candidate must have 24 months specialized experience involving piloting or copiloting of aircraft to carry out various programs and functions of the Army and Air National Guard; providing ground and flight instructions and in-flight evaluation in piloting of aircraft; flight testing of developmental and modified aircraft and components; in-flight inspection and evaluation of air navigation facilities and the environmental conditions affecting instrument flight procedures; and performing staff work concerned with planning, analyzing, or administering agency aviation programs, where the work requires primarily the application of pilot knowledge and skills.

Flying Hours: Candidate must have at least 500 hours total military tim (all must be documented on your DA Form 759).
