Sr.Manager, Release Train Engineer

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) will be accountable for the overall program delivery and for ensuring that the agile pods meet their release commitments. He/she will be responsible to facilitate the Agile Release Train (ART) events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. They will be responsible to communicate with stakeholders, resolving and where required, escalating program level impediments, help manage program risk, and drive relentless improvement with a vision of fulfilling the objectives of the Program. This role will also participate in Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in the new processes and mindsets with a goal of building high performing teams. This is also a people leadership role with responsibilities to lead a team of scrum masters.

  • Accountable for Program Delivery and for the Agile pods meeting the release commitments
  • Own and maintain the overall project plan, including all internal and external dependencies
  • Responsible for all program level communications, across the program and to the executive management
  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
  • Providing servant leadership and building high-performing Agile teams
  • Bring transparency to Business and IT organization about the Program and grow trust
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART Train using various tools, such as the Program Kanbans and other information radiators
  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings
  • Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency
  • Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Agile practices and mindsets
  • Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the DevOps and Release on Demand competency
  • Foster a continuous learning environment helping teams to inspect & adapt

  • Expert knowledge of Agile frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, and familiarity with Jira and Confluence toolsWorking knowledge of banking audit and regulatory practices; ensures that projects under their responsibility are fully compliant with corporate standards

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experienced as a Release Train Engineer
  • Several years Scrum or/and Agile Coaching experience
  • Experience facilitating the Agile Release train processes and execution
  • Strong understanding of scaled agile frameworks
  • Experience interacting with stakeholders and managers at all levels

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience and confidence leading large programs
  • Past developer experience is highly desired (preferably in agile setup)
  • Specific experience with Jira, Confluence, Kanban and similar tools and methodologies.
  • An ideal candidate will also have technical experience working with various technology stacks and managing teams
