Summary:
In this role as a Business Requirements Lead, you will be responsible for elicitation, identification, analysis, definition and managing business requirements across the project lifecycle, to ensure high quality projects and solutions are delivered. This role is will report the Business Owner of the COMS Project and into the Business Requirements Organization within the ePMO.

The COMS project (credit origination platform) is an approved major infrastructure project for SVB and is now mobilizing. As a key mandate of the project, the bank needs to contract a Business Analyst to support the project from project initiation and discovery through development and through system installation completion. This role is a critical for the success of the project. The person in this role will use their strong institutional knowledge, experience with SVB's credit and portfolio management practice, aptitude for process management improvement to contribute to the success of the project.

Essential Duties:
  • Lead requirement gathering on an enterprise-wide basis by providing subject matter expertise to the business owners.
  • Support the Business Requirements Organization (BRO) by following BRO Center of Excellence practices, processes and utilizing BRO templates.
  • Manage requirements across the project lifecycle, to ensure high quality solutions are delivered, in line with the business needs and customer's standards
  • Analyze and interpret requirements for their viability against the business objective to ensure the solution is met
  • Ensure all requirements are traceable against the defined customer experience
  • Document requirements by crafting requirement specifications documents
  • Utilize, influence and drive change through elicitation techniques like brainstorming, requirement workshops, focus groups and others. This could include defining the marketing requirements including commercial models for Enterprise products propositions.
  • Manage and prioritize requirements by partnering with the business owners to ensure the right requirements are included by considering the scope and schedule of projects
  • Gain requirements sign-off by making sure all on key stakeholders are on the same level of understanding against requirements and obtain written approval on requirements to be developed Most SVB projects follow a traditional lifecycle however, the Business Requirements Lead may be tasked with building business, stakeholder and/or system requirements as well as business and/or system use cases if the project dictates and the skillset is present
  • Serve as the Requirement Gatekeeper and validate any new requirement for their effect and impact on the existing requirement set of the project
  • Support and maintain the requirements repository and provide reporting relating to quality or requirements, traceability and re-usability
  • Work independently but in frequent communication with teams located across the enterprise - the SVB business owners, partners, sponsors and the SVB project managers, Business Requirements Organization and ePMO
  • Interact directly with the larger ePMO Team to communicate status and other relevant information. In addition to developing requirements work products, the Business Requirements lead may be tasked with providing oversight to requirements work of other contractors / vendors on SVB projects.

Skills and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience developing requirements/specifications, deep understanding of various requirements capture methodologies, documentation standards, and software implementation and test processes
  • 7+ years of experience building functional and non-functional written requirements utilizing business process diagrams, use cases, user stories and interviews, ability to articulate processes into business language
  • 5+ years of experience in banking, preferably in lending and portfolio management. First-hand experience in working with both clients facing and credit team in delivering credit products. Knowledge of both loans and non-loan credit products (e.g. credit cards, FX, ACH, etc.)
  • Strong spoken and written and communication skills and strong analytical skills to assess process gaps and recommend best practice solutions
  • Strong Experience in Business Analysis and Requirements Writing
  • Strong Elicitation and interviewing skills
  • Familiarity with Communication Plans and key business requirements artifacts
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Group facilitation and observational skills
  • Process modeling skills
  • Experience facilitating User acceptance and conducting testing

  • Familiarity with Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Microsoft Office Visio
  • Ability to travel on occasion to other SVB offices and locations
