QA Lab Tech - SMC - B, C & D Shifts

Role Purpose

Operate precision measuring equipment to ensure quality product. Maintain accuracy and perform to set standards for measurement to ensure quality parts are shipped to our customers. Communicate to production and others Dimensional Data for compliance. Follow Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES:

To contribute to the achievement of the company's goals and objectives including budgetary and production goals as defined by the GKN SFD Precision Forming Leadership Team and Production Management Team.

* Performs layout inspection of tooling (SFD manufactured and supplied) and manufactured components when required using standards room test and inspection equipment.

* Cleans, set-up, adjusts and calibrates gages required for shop floor use including MSA requirements.

* Inspects setting masters per the computerized gage maintenance schedule.

* Performs inspections and calibrations of hand gages used throughout the facility such as micrometers and calipers. Support outsource calibration needs.

* Read blueprints and other specifications to obtain production components.

* Programs CMM for inspection of prototype and production components including updates as required.

* Uses established techniques to quantify gage and process performance.

* Performs other duties as specified by management.

* Knows significant environmental aspects of the job and the related operational controls.

* Maintain and establish 5S and TPM standards.

* Involvement in Kaizen and other continuous improvement activities.

* Support GKN Customers, Manufacturing, Tooling Design, Engineering and other business area as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read and write English Language.

* Some College preferred. High School diploma or GED required.

* Five years quality assurance experience preferred.

* Three years working knowledge of quality systems required.

* Working knowledge of Metrology, Geometry and Trigonometry.

* Working knowledge of BASIC programming.

* CQT (Certified Quality Technician) optional

* Successful completion of pre-hire screening and interview.

* Ability to work as a team player with minimal supervision.
