Bell Captain, Lodge at Snowbird

Under the direction of General Hotel Manager supervises Bell Staff

Greets guests and assists guests with luggage,transportation and valet needs. Monitors bell storage. Shuttles guests around the resort in company vehicles,and ensures vehicles, including snowthrones, are in proper operating condition. Responsible for parking lot clearings during the winter months. Responsible for monitoring parking, especially during the summer months. Directly supervises and trains the bell staff. Provides ongoing training as needed. Communicates with all departments. Supervises and handles each of the following job duties.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility

* Escorts incoming hotel guests and owners to rooms and assists with luggage. Is visible and available in the lobby to assist guests when required. Ensures guest name usage whenever possible. Maintains eye contact with guests and owners.

* Ensures that luggage is safe and not left unattended. Ensures that luggage is placed in the bell cart properly, and handled with care. Delivers luggage to guests' rooms within 15 minutes of guests' arrival. When rooming a guest, luggage should be placed on luggage rack. After rooming, should offer further assistance.

* Explains features of room, such as operation of radio, television, housekeeping service, fan, and heater thermostat control. Provides information pertaining to points of interest and entertainment attractions.

* Arrives at the guest room to collect luggage within 8 minutes of the guest's call when departing.

* Arranges shuttle service for guests. Keeps record of calls for service (check-in, check-out, miscellaneous). Assists in accurate maintenance of bell desk log sheets.

* Answers the telephone within four rings with a clear and audible greeting, and closes the conversation with a pleasant final remark.

* Assists in keeping the work area neat and clean. Follows all applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations. Also, responsible for shoveling snow and salting walkways and parking areas. * Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

Education & Experience Requirements

* High School Diploma or equivalent required.

* 1-2 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.

Specific Requirements

* Must be at least 21 years of age.

* Valid Driver License w/ clean MVR (driving record)

Skills & Knowledge

* This position requires good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to use some math with accuracy in counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

* Must have the ability to handle, process, maintain and protect guest personal information. This includes privacy and confidentiality, reporting, storage and disposal of sensitive information. Will not share or disclose any guest personal or financial information to anyone unless authorized by the guest,owner, manager or company, or unless disclosure is permitted within departmental policies and procedures.

* This position requires knowledge and understanding of PCI DSS, including the safe and secure handling and maintenance of personal, financial and credit card information of guests/customers.

* Must be reliable, mature and able to work with minimal supervision. Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval. Requires some problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations. Requires strong understanding of other Snowbird operations. Should be willing to accept responsibility for his/her actions.

Working Conditions

* Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends or holidays, depending on business levels.

* Must be available any day of the week, flexible schedule between 7:00 am-11:00 pm.

Mental:

* Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.

* May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.

Physical:

* Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

* Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

* Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.

* Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions.

* Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.

* Other/Additional: This position requires an outgoing and friendly personality. Must have the ability to work in a flexible and high-volume environment. Needs the ability to make decisions quickly on guest and employee issues. May experience stress due to consistent high occupancy levels and weather-related conditions that exist at Snowbird.
