Paraprofessional Temp - Parks Maintenance Worker

The City of San Rafael is hiring for the temporary position of Parks Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. This is a full-time temporary position working 37.5 hours per week under general supervision. Maximum hours worked per fiscal year not to exceed 1,000 hours. Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning restrooms, picking up and disposing of debris; mowing and edging turf; pruning shrubs and groundcovers, cleaning asphalt surfaces; general landscaping maintenance; and minor building maintenance and repair.
Ability to operate mowers, edgers, backpack blower, small athletic tractor and weed eaters; work flexible time; follow written and oral assignments with a minimum of supervision and work with moderate public contact.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Must have excellent reading and communication skills; prior experience in the operation of power-driven equipment or previous maintenance experience is desirable but not required. Must be capable of heavy manual labor, including the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and be able to show proof of eligibility to work. Must possess a valid California driver's license.
