You will be responsible for:

* Receives, reads and interprets prescriptions and doctor's orders

* Checks for overdoses, legal correctness, incompatibilities, allergies, etc.

* Prepares sterile and non-sterile medications

* Fills or supervises non-pharmacy personnel in filling unit and clinic orders for floor stock

* Fills orders for controlled substances and assures necessary accountability and security.

* Answers questions and provides information concerning such subjects as drug incompatibility, drug availability, adverse reactions and contraindications

* Supervises non-pharmacist personnel in inventorying, ordering and checking-in supplies and drugs.

* Supervises non-pharmacist personnel in compounding pharmacy products as permitted by law

* Supervises non-pharmacist personnel checking all hospital units and clinics where there is storage of drugs, to include emergency carts

* Prepare patient profiles to include drugs given to patients

* Supervise all non-pharmacist personnel, scheduling and checking their work

* Counsels patients receiving outpatient prescriptions including but not limited to relabeled medications for home use, indigent medication program.

* Reviews orders, checks for correct medication, protocol, dosing weight, renal function, ANC and others as needed.

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What will you need?

* Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy) from an accredited pharmacy program (required)

* Current license as a pharmacist in the state of Texas (required).

* Must be IV certified within 6 months of hire (required).
