Substance Use Disorder Counselor II

Position Purpose:

Provides group, individual counseling, education classes, orientation, individual appointments, make-up groups for alcohol and drug issues, and in the DUIP Multiple Conviction Program facilitation of continuing care groups.

* Facilitates and conducts programs for participants in ways to reduce the negative impact of the use of chemical and alcohol involvement.

* Completes case management, including the maintenance of individual client files, group rosters, and group notes.

* Monitors client payment history. Keeps management informed on clients in arrears, completing monthly arrearage report. Dismisses clients as directed in accordance with Title Nine.

* Maintains group sign-in sheets, ensuring group size is in accordance with Title Nine.

* Conducts re-reinstatements, intakes, transfers, orientation, and other client activities as needed.

* Directs disposition of sensitive or problematic client situations to appropriate Supervisor.

Education/Experience:

* Bachelor's degree, AOD certification, or equivalent alcohol counseling experience

* Minimum two years alcoholism counseling experience

* Minimum one year experience providing education information

License/Certification:

* Registered or Certified AOD Counselor in the State of California, in good standing

* Possess a minimum of 2080 hours in providing educational or counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or other drug problems
