Trust Automation is a fast growing company in San Luis Obispo, CA. We are seeking a MANUFACTURING ENGINEER 1 to join our team. This is an entry-level position ideally suited for a new or recent graduate. ONLY LOCAL AREA CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED.

Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing manufacturing support for existing products and for developing and introducing new products and equipment. Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Research, design and develop the organization's manufacturing and fabrication methods and tools and systems. Evaluate product design for manufacturability and suggest design process adjustments and quality improvements. Engage in the selection, development and testing of tools, fixtures, machinery and equipment used in manufacturing. Investigate manufacturing processes for cost reduction opportunities. Analyze workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout in order to maximize efficiency. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, engineering, quality and manufacturing teams to meet quality, productivity and cost objectives.

Responsibilities & Requirements

* Designing and developing manufacturing procedures, tooling, and fixtures that result in sufficient capacity to meet customer demand while also promoting product quality, process efficiency, and operator safety.

* Providing production line support including, but not limited to, implementing process improvements, troubleshooting equipment, and addressing operator inquiries.

* Generating and modifying manufacturing process documentation and assuring that manufacturing processes and related documentation follow established policies and procedures.

* Utilizing LEAN, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.

* Assisting in identifying equipment needs on the production floor and evaluating internal and external options for sourcing such equipment.

* Generating and modify component and assembly drawings using Solid Works.

* Developing and releasing new products using customer or internal specifications.

* Writing and executing process and equipment validations (IQ/OQ/PQ).

* Working with R&D, Marketing, Quality, and Manufacturing Departments during the concept, prototyping, and release of new products.

* Working with the Internal Audit team to perform annual schedule of quality system audits.

* Working with external vendors as needed.

* Performing equipment maintenance by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.

* Other assignments as requested.

A successful candidate will have:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical engineering or related field preferred

* 1-3 years' relevant experience

* Proficient with SolidWorks

* Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

* Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and complex drawings/diagrams

* Technical problem solving skills

* Project management skills including the ability to manage several projects at one time

* Manual dexterity and ability to use common hand tools, calipers, micrometers and other measuring and test tools

* Working knowledge of BOM, routings, manufacturing procedures, tooling/fixture design (AutoCAD, Key Creator, Catia, or similar) is highly preferred

* Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization to understand the root cause of problems and to implement the appropriate corrective actions, required

* Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations

* Must possess a sense of team work, respect for other's efforts and a "can-do attitude"

* Exhibit proactive attitude towards upholding quality standards, with a drive for continuous improvement and a dedication to providing customer satisfaction
