General Description

Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze accounting accounts and transactions for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico and Popular Bank (U.S.); post transactions in the General Ledger. Analyze and record journal entries. Review and keep record of internal procedures according to the policies and procedures of the organization. Provide support in the preparation of variance explanations with Income Statement, Balance Sheet, among others. Assist in the preparation of monthly reports. Assist the senior accountant and financial analysts in the annual budget process preparation. Investigate and analyze pending transactions or differences in accounts, identifying and channeling possible reclassifications, adjustments or corrections of systems. Follow-up on arrangements as needed. Support auditing processes. Provide support on assigned special projects.


Bachelor's Degree in Accounting


Minimum of two years experience in banking accounting or managing transactions in the General Ledger.

Other Requirements

* Knowledge of accounting principles.

* Excellent accountancy skills of the General Ledger

* Knowledge of the complete accounting cycle, accounting entries, analysis of subsidiaries, preparation of financial and related reports.

* Analytical ability to evaluate financial information.

* Ability to integrate and apply accounting knowledge to the analysis of operational and financial processes.

* Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, both oral and written.

* Skills in systems such as; Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and SAP.

* Ability to prioritize and anticipate situations.

* Ability to identify problems, analyze their causes and resolve them in a timely and accurate manner.

* Ability to work with minimal supervision and delivery dates.

* Ability to adapt to changes, new situations and work under pressure.

* Focused on achieving results through collaboration and teamwork.
