Senior Accountant

Gather, prepare, test and maintain adequate documentation to support journal entries for a broad range of accounting areas consistent with GAAP and corporate accounting policies to ensure close timelines are met Responsible for maintaining and executing on indirect tax compliance to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting & filing Work closely with US Corporate Accounting team, Indirect Tax Manager, and regional third-party accounting support teams to ensure effective compliance with policies and procedures Prepare monthly journal entries and related reconciliations Support and execute implementation efforts for potential indirect tax changes Provide schedules and support to internal and external auditors and corporate tax Work with Corporate tax and external tax advisors to support required filings Ensure that intent of policy matches execution in applicable systems and processes Stay current on evolving Accounting Standards pronouncements and updates under prevailing regulatory bodies (FASB, SEC, IASB, CRA), incorporating into current Company policy as necessary Apply professional skepticism and an inquisitive approach to review and analyze the appropriateness and reasonableness of underlying tax and accounting principles Implement and maintain the required process and internal control environment, and perform control procedures to ensure regions are complying with Company policy Comfortable working with cross functional teams and 3rd party service providers Ensure the proper tax and accounting treatment for all product and service offerings is documented and that related accounts are properly prepared and substantiated Streamline systems and reporting tools to ensure efficient and accurate recording and proper classification of tax and intercompany transactions Participate in systems upgrades and enhancements as necessary Support ongoing SEC/CRA reporting requirements as necessary Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting with minimum of 3 years’ experience; CPA/MBA/Chartered Accountant highly desirable Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Excellent tax research skills and relevant experience in the application of Canadian Excise Tax Act and Provincial Sales Tax Act is a plus Knowledge of Brazil Statutory requirements is a plus Strong knowledge of foreign exchange and hedge accounting is a plus Experience with accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations and the audit/testing of supporting documentation Ability to manage complexity well and demonstrated experience managing across functions and businesses to accomplish large scale goals in a large, public company environment Confidence, good judgment, energy, and personality to work in a dynamic, multi-business unit environment across all levels of management and across business units and functions Strong end-to-end process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills, and problem solving skills Excellent analytical and organizational skills, time prioritization and risk assessment Strong technical accounting skills; ability to research and understand technical details, but also interpret and present in lay terms to non-technical finance and other business partners Ability to influence people indirectly and work with people in multi-functional roles Excellent written and verbal communications, presentation, and influencing skills, including the ability to raise issues appropriately to the right level internally and externally to resolve Strong PC, worksheet and word processing skills•Working knowledge of Oracle R12, Siebel/BRM and Business Objects a plus
