Epidemiologist Recruitment for Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence

About the Position:

The DOD Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE) is seeking an experienced Research Epidemiologist to lead their epidemiology and surveillance research line at Naval Health Research Center, San Diego, CA.

The candidate filling this role will:

* Actively facilitate development and growth of the EACE's clinical and epidemiological research portfolio

* Design focused surveillance projects and epidemiologic research for combat amputee and limb salvage patient populations

* Serve a functional role on individual research projects

* Lead writing grants and other funding proposals

* Lead the planning and execution of a personal portfolio of epidemiological and/or clinical research

* Enhance the visibility and scientific eminence of the EACE through a variety of activities including: authoring scientific manuscripts and abstracts, participating in professional conferences and meetings, and membership on scientific panels/boards.

May require up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

Applied Knowledge & Skills:

* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and/epidemiologic research methods, theories, concepts and practices

* Research study design preferably with orthopedic or rehabilitation sciences patient populations

* Experience with large data sets, expertise in retrieving, analyzing, organizing and arraying data and an in-depth knowledge of Statistical Analysis (SAS) software

* Experience working on multidisciplinary research teams

* Ability to work and develop relationships with research partners to grow a research portfolio

* Ability to communicate complex issues in a scientifically sound and understandable way

* Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, and collaborate with others

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

Other Requirements:

* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

* You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

* Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

* Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.

* Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

* 5+ years of post-doctoral experience in clinical and/or epidemiological research design, implementation and publication

* Background in one or more of the following: epidemiology, orthopedics or rehabilitation sciences, clinical research

* Demonstrable experience working and developing relationships with research partners to grow a research portfolio

Minimum Qualifications:

* Doctorate Degree in epidemiology

* 5+ years of experience with scientific disciplines developing strategies in research studies and scientific projects.

* Must possess a track record of publication in scientific peer-reviewed journals as evidenced by publication listing on resume

* Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.

* Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
