You will serve as a PIPE FITTER in the UTILITIES DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Responsibilities

* You will Maintain hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, pipes threaders, cutters, dividers, chalk lines, dills, grinders, ground fault interrupter equipment) to accomplish assigned duties

* You will Use wrenches, pipe threaders, benders, grinders, saws, and other basic hand, power, or pneumatic tools to complete work assignments

* You will Install systems (e.g., steam heating, steam generation, hydraulic systems) for operation of high-pressure piping systems or equipment.

* You will Use siding squares, tape measures, dividers, chalk lines, pump bobs, templates, start drills, grinders, hand and power threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, closet augers, hydrostatic pumps, and lead pots to complete assigned pipefitting tasks

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as, steam-heating, hydraulic systems, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum systems, radiators and circulating pumps. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
