This is a part time limited position for one (1) year with the possibility of extension and or career conversion.

Extension is a self-funded division of the University of California, San Diego. With an operating budget of approximately $50 million and approximately 220 employees and over 1,000 part-time instructors, the division provides continuing education to adults in a University context. In addition to a wide variety of professional and personal enrichment topics of study, Extension supports a television studio, a large English language program, a retired persons program, college preparation programs for high school students, a career enhancement center, and research relating to emerging industries and career opportunities. Participants and partners in Extension programs include individuals, corporations, government agencies and other academic institutions.


UCSD OSHA Training Institute is a Federal Government educational program that reaches into the American safety community. Extension's OSHA Training Institute offers multiple safety classes and most importantly is responsible for the training of Outreach safety professionals and general workforce. Under the general supervision of the OSHA supervisor and also the Outreach Representative, this position is responsible for all contact with OSHA Outreach trainers and the processing of their conducted Outreach courses.

This position provides excellent customer service by assisting Outreach trainers in all aspects of their interaction with OSHA Outreach Department, including providing information about OSHA Outreach online database, processing all OSHA Outreach reports, printing all Outreach student cards, mailing cards and corresponding letters.


* Strong demonstrated background and experience in customer service.

* Proven experience processing a large volume of documents rapidly and accurately with close attention to detail.

* Strong experience operating PC and the following software packages: Microsoft Word, Access, Outlook email, Excel and Windows.

* Solid experience communicating information to a broad variety of people on the phone, in person and in writing.

* Experience working effectively under pressure to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.


* Must have reliable transportation.

* Must be willing to work altered work schedule as required.

* A background check is required for this position.

Duties may require direct contact with children (defined as individuals under the age of 18); completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form will be required.
