Stock Clerk - Warehouse

As Warehouse Stock Clerk, you will perform a variety of tasks related to receiving, catalogging, and delivering merchandise, supplies, equipment and other sales items and packages recieved at the warehouse. As you move about the Zoo, you will constantly exhibit an exceptional guest service attitude and an obvious interest in guest assistance as you will be apart of the safe operation of your department.


* Prepare requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing new or additional stock items.

* Received, Count, sort, and/or weigh incoming articles to verify receipt with order specifications.

* Fill orders and issue supplies from stock. This includes both food and retail supplies.

* Receive and properly store incoming food and retail merchandise deliveries.

* Follow food safety guidelines.

* Perform stock inventory as required.

* Maintain a clean and orderly stock room, walk-in refrigerator/freezer, offices and facilities.

* Maintain the outside area of the Visitor Services warehouse in a clean and sanitary manner.

* Occasionally receiver and deliver incoming deliveries to various Zoo departments.

* Pick up and deliver items from/to vendors, stands, and various machines on Zoo grounds.

* Assist Revenue Managers with timely reconciliation from the Mold-A-Rama, soda, animal food, and penny machines.

* Complete daily order sheet and fill orders for all food stands throughout the Zoo. Assist in deliveries merchandise to various retail outlets.

* Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.

* Constantly exhibit a guest service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in guest comfort and service.

* Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist guests with questions and directions to various areas of the Zoo. Address the guest - do not wait to be asked.

* Remove trash and debris from public areas; i.e. pick up litter whenever you see it.

* Any and all other duties as assigned.


* Must be 18 years of age or older with a clean driving record for vehicle operation.

* Knowledge of storage requirements for various supplies and materials to include refrigerated storage.

* Ability of safely lift and move heavy objects repeatedly.

* Ability to perform heavy manual labor in temperatures typical of south Texas.

* Ability to make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy.

* Ability to work weekends, holidays and occasional after-hour assignments.

* Ability to safely operate Zoo vehicles.

* High school graduate or GED Certification.

* Valid Texas driver's license.

* Forklift Operation Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months.

* Food Service Manager Certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year.
