Spiritual Enrichment Group Facilitator

The Spiritual Enrichment Group Facilitator, under the direction of the Chaplain and Christian Emphasis Team, is responsible for leading Restore Ministries Small Groups at YMCA branches and with other related community partners and organizations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith.

2.Commit to the duration of the small group (usually 8 weeks) and weekly time commitment as agreed upon by staff. The "weekly time commitment" may include but is not limited to curriculum preparation for group, set-up and/or tear down of meeting space. Weekly emails/contact to group members, regular de-briefing with fellow facilitator and/or chaplain.

3.Weekly roll-check followed by communication to Chaplain about participants.

4.De-briefing upon completion of group with Restore Small Group Leader Team to assess the success of the group.

5.Remain current and knowledgeable on all services offered through Restore Ministries and The Daniel Plan.

6. Able and available to lead classes during daytime and/or evening.

RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be 18 years of age.

2. A High School Diploma or GED is required, Bachelor's recommened.

3. Certifications required within the first week of hire: Redwoods Bloodborne

Pathogens and Hazardous Communications

4. Certifications required within the first 60 days of hire: CPR Pro and First Aid.

5. Must be able to establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting caring, honesty, respect and responsibility with staff, YMCA members, and program participants.

6. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

7. Completion of "Journey to Freedom" 8 week Restore Ministries Small Group training.

8. This position requires an individual with the knowledge and familiarity with the Restore curriculum and The Daniel Plan for the group facilitating. He/she should display self-awareness, enabling them to relate and empathize with current and potential participants of Restore programming.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment and in a classroom setting.

2. Visual acuity is required for reading computer screens and/or documents and making changes as necessary/required.

3. Job requires accuracy and attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills, while maintaining high levels of initiative in order to work within deadlines.

4. Occasional stooping and bending with regular lifting of up to 20 pounds is required.

5. This staff member should be capable and comfortable leading a group of up to 11 participants through the curriculum designated for their group. 6. Incumbent must be able to sit for long periods of time, as well as be able to use keyboards, telephone keypads, and writing utensils.
