Quality Engineer

Reports To: Director, Quality

Job Summary: Responsible for developing, maintaining the quality systems in accordance with the requirements of ISO, NSF and internal policies and to execute the quality function throughout the organization. The Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering leadership and support to new product development projects, current product quality improvement, manufacturing /business process improvement and support to supplier and customer quality improvement efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Develop, maintain and improve the overall Quality System to ensure compliance to ISO standards and other applicable regulations.

* Support new product development projects and complete all quality deliverables.

* Lead targeted supplier quality improvement projects and actions and execute suppliers' audits.

* Lead and support efforts to improve internal supplier procedures, metrics, scorecards and monitoring systems.

* Lead targeted product quality improvement projects and teams across a variety of product platforms in order to drive key quality metric improvement.

* Lead targeted production and business process improvement teams and projects across a variety of processes to drive improvement in cost, quality and delivery.

* Handle customer returns and lead cross-functional teams (including failure analysis) to determine root cause and corrective actions, drive resolution of customer issues, and prepare reports for upper management.

* Responsible for identifying patterns in customer returns and working with engineering teams to implement the actions required to rectify systemic issue

* Develop and implement statistically valid sampling plans, designed experiments, capability studies, etc.

* Manage quality processes such as CAPA, Complaint Handling, NCR, Calibration and Environmental Control

* Interface with various other departments and facilities within the company on quality related issues.

* Actively support Lean projects and initiatives across the organization.

* Complete and lead other duties as requested and assigned.


* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science

* Advanced degrees or Quality Certifications (CQT, CQE, Six Sigma or Lean) preferred.

* Minimum 2 years of experience with manufacturing processes such as fabrication, machining and assembly strongly preferred.

* Proven ability to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using practical judgment.

* Ability to organize and manage concurrent activities.

* Knowledge of measurement, process control techniques and standard quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), Root Cause Analysis, DOE and Statistics.

* Proven ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships at all levels of the organization as well as cross-functionally to achieve quality improvement goals.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation

* Strong organizational and administrative skills

* Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.

* Strong working knowledge of MS Office Products
