Terms of Employment:

12 months/ 230 days per year. Salary is at Technology Job Group 6 on the SAISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Entry level is at an annual rate of $62,709.50 with additional consideration for directly related experience.

Primary Purpose:

To support teachers with the goal of understanding the data needed to support high quality classroom instruction through effective presentation of State assessment results, MAP, and additional student performance and growth data. Provide teacher training and support for navigating data reporting systems, understanding the implications of student performance on campus and district accountability, as well as tracking and improving individual student performance/growth. This position would also evaluate existing data reporting systems used by classroom teachers, identify any deficiencies, and develop new system requirements with specific proposals for improvement. Working with software developers, this position would assist in software design, new user training, and full testing of the software product. Once deployed, this position would oversee campus implementation, evaluate its effectiveness and request adjustments as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

* Bachelor's degree with a major in education, computer science, information management, mathematics, business or related fields

* Valid Texas teaching certification

* Valid Texas Driver's License with a good driving record; must meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility

* Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Knowledge of and/or experience in working with student, administrative, or personnel data systems

* Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Crystal Reports, etc.)

* Knowledge of Crystal report writing and Crystal Enterprise reporting platform (preferred)

* Knowledge of and/or experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)

* Knowledge of computers and peripherals

* Familiarity with the Family Educational Right s and Privacy Act (FERPA)

* Expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

* Working knowledge of batch file organization and processing (preferred)

* Ability to problem solve, think critically and manage conflicts

* Strong presentation, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills

Experience:

* Two (2) years of recent experience in data analysis and reporting

* Three (3) years teaching

Educational Systems Expert

* Supports teacher access to and understanding of the use of data in instruction through effective presentation of results to individuals and groups

* Provides classroom teacher training and support for navigating data reporting systems

* Works collaboratively with District instructional leaders to implement information dissemination and data collection strategies that optimize efficiency and promote effective teaching

* Maintains an understanding of educational data systems to include student demographic, assessment, and program participation

* Point of contact for classroom teacher questions/clarifications regarding student data

* Responsible for determining the accuracy and availability of classroom data reporting tools

* Develops innovative tools to meet identified needs or gaps in student data as needed

Classroom Teacher and Technology Liaison

* Works collaboratively with classroom teachers to identify and prioritize instructional information needs

* Works collaboratively with technology personnel to develop and implement reporting systems

* Confirms project requirements by studying user needs and conferring with others on project team

* Keeps teachers apprised of project status through effective communication

* Documents data use processes with instruction teams

* Ensures understanding of teacher needs by proactively clarifying scope and requirements

* Demonstrates commitment to customer service through timely, accurate, and supportable deliverables

Data Reporting Systems Analyst

* Develops, implements, and documents accurate, clear, relevant, and comprehensive data reports in direct support of classroom instruction

* Possesses strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

* Implements processes to ensure that reported data is accurate and reliable

* Possesses exceptional attention to detail

* Adept at writing queries and report writing

* Ability to present data information, findings, and reports
