At SVRS, graphic and visual design is one of the critical components that helps contribute, shape and influence our company brand, strategy, campaign and market perception. This designer will work collaboratively with web developers, graphic designers, production artists and video producers, absorb and understand projects' needs, create concepts and help deliver compelling, creative visuals and stories to our audience. As a graphics-visual designer, you'll be accountable for concepts, strategies and visual design elements for various marketing projects.

This position is highly collaborative and, to maximize efficiency and productivity, requires a strong working relationship with other members of our marketing team as well as an understanding of other departments, including, but not limited to, outreach, customer support teams, product managers and engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the work communicates ideas and stories clearly, is on brand and delights users.
  • Explain and discuss design decisions eloquently as well as provide design feedback.
  • Create designs, concepts and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design.
  • Contribute to the definition and creation of flexible, coherent design systems and component libraries.
  • Partner with design, technology and other team members to ensure the project meets various creative and strategic objectives and timelines.
  • Consult with various team members to create cohesive designs that reflect corporate culture(s) and goal(s).
  • Design (and/or begin to direct others to design) mood boards, comps (with and without wireframes), concept sketches, presentation decks, style guides, storyboards as well as print and online materials. May also contribute content to visual content decks.
  • Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material; discuss them with various team members and make necessary revisions.
  • Develop graphics, illustrations and layouts for products, company logos and internet websites.
  • Create still and animated graphics for use.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

  • Understand graphic and visual design as a discipline and a practice
  • Moderate to advanced command of standard design applications (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Pixelmator, Motion, etc.).
  • Ability to sktech and illustrate by hand or on a computer and utilize modern drawing tools, such as tablets.
  • Organized and detail oriented, with strong attention to subtleties of design/art.
  • Ability to estimate the time the project will require to develop, create and complete a particular project.
  • Bring a "can-do" and "team-player' attitude to the workplace.
  • Must possess the ability to confidently communicate and present meaningful information in a clear, creative and engaging way to an individual or group while conveying technical and complex messages in simple, understandable and convincing language -- in both written English and ASL.
  • Adaptive design eye and skill, coupled with creative flair, originality and a strong visual sense.
  • Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), understand Deaf history and culture and communicate and collaborate with the diverse cultures both inside and outside of the company.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects, prioritize projects and work effectively and efficiently under various deadlines.
  • Knowledge of basic office applications, specifically, but not limited to, Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Profecient and adept at working on a Mac platform.
  • Advanced ability to utilize feedback/direction from stakeholders to generate multiple design explorations and iterate those designs to the satisfaction of the stakeholders.
Experience/Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three-plus years in a professional art/design environment
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative abilities
  • Experience with video editing and motion graphics is preferred.
