As an Enrollment Counselor, you will work extensively with students to identify and evaluate students’ goals, ensure enrollment requirements are met, and establish proper expectations.

In addition, Enrollment Counselors generate excitement, build rapport, and empower students to take their next steps. Enrollment Counselors also provide outstanding student service by answering questions, mitigating concerns, providing program information, and monitoring students’ progress throughout the enrollment process. A successful Enrollment Counselor is expected to meet goals that are based on established benchmarks across various metrics and will collaborate with other WGU staff to serve students. Enrollment Counselors utilize multiple systems to accurately track and report all student activity and progress.

Responsibilities and Duties

Must keep a positive and influential attitude with all students, colleagues, and university departments

Proactively contact and follow up with prospective students via telephone and email

Manage student applications throughout the enrollment process by using best practices, including follow-up appointments and meeting deadlines

Establish proper expectations regarding the student experience and WGU’s culture

Evaluate students’ academic goals to align with degree program selection

Resolve students’ questions and concerns throughout their enrollment process

Guide students in fulfilling program requirements

Maintain a current understanding of industry needs and degree programs

Remain compliant with standards, guidelines, and policies as set forth by WGU and the U.S. Department of Education

Required Experience

Must work set schedule with hours that may include evenings and weekends. The hours of operation are 8 am to 8 pm Mountain Time Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm Saturday.

Must hold an accredited bachelor’s degree or higher. Consideration may be given for applicants currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.

Must have basic computer skills, including experience working with Microsoft Office programs, navigating multiple software programs simultaneously, and managing high volumes of phone calls and emails
