Business Need / Purpose of Role

The purpose of the role of the Application Engineer - Municipal is to be the focal contact between the factory and the customer, interpreting the customer's needs by providing technical support, generating detailed technical and commercial proposals, and processing complete and accurate orders.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities


* Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for customers by reviewing customer Requests For Quotes (RFQ's), specifications, data sheets, and reviewing the pump application.

* Provide technical support to representatives / distributors, end-users, and consulting engineers via email and phone conversations in a professional manner.

* Process pump orders by providing complete and accurate order details to the Order Entry and Project Management team via Salesforce order processing.

* Handle call-in inquiries for pump product lines.

* Assist distributors and representatives with day to day support requests.


* To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

* Be able to handle multiple project quotation requests with almost zero errors.

* Achievement of Personal Business Objectives.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred

* 2 or more year experience in sales/engineering with pumps, rotating equipment, or in the manufacturing industry required. Prior experience in municipal wastewater industry a plus.

* Excellent technical writing skills required

* Must be self motivated and customer oriented

* Ability to multi-task and make accurate decisions based on the information available

* Must have excellent problem solving and negotiation skills

* Ability to read drawings and understand technical specifications

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to read blueprints and understand contracts. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

AS 400, Microsoft Office, Intelliquip Quotation Software, Salesforce
