Under the supervision of the Migrant Education Program Manager the Early Childhood Education Associate will perform a wide variety of tasks helping Migrant preschool children and families and guide the activities of the assistant teacher; will provide educational activities for parents and child participants in site-based settings and/or home based settings

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: The Program Manager and/or designee


Assists in planning and presenting parent and Early Childhood Education programs at sites

Maintains records as required by Migrant Education Program (Regional and State) under the direction of the supervisor

Assists the coach in providing pre-K literacy and math skills to children and parenting skills to Migrant parents

Prepares for meetings, serves snacks, and follows-up after various activities as needed

Assists in designing and developing educational and informational materials


Knowledge of:

Migrant children and parents' lifestyle

Ability to:

Make home visits; work occasional evenings/weekends, if necessary; work independently and cooperatively, communicate effectively in writing and orally in both English and Spanish

High School diploma; hold a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit

Licenses and Certifications Required:

First Aid within six months of employment; CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment; and Valid California drivers license and evidence of insurability


Physical, mental and emotional stamina to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position; manual dexterity sufficient to write, use telephone, and operate center equipment, and drive an automobile; vision sufficient to read printed materials and to see at a distance; hearing sufficient to conduct in person conversations with children and adults and telephone conversations; Speaking ability in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversational distance, on the telephone, and in addressing groups; physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, and to reach overhead, and run; physical mobility sufficient to move rapidly about the work environment on varied indoor and outdoor surfaces, to drive an automobile, and to respond to emergency situations; physical strength sufficient to lift forty-five (45) pounds; physical stamina sufficient to sit in a child's chair, squat at children's eye level for prolonged periods of time and to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; physical, mental, and emotional tolerance to be exposed to the noise generated by children in an enclosed environment; Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions.
