Safety Director

The Safety Director leads the company in identifying safety risks and provides necessary training to ensure employee safety is as big of a priority as providing great service to our customers and consumers. This position will require up to 50% travel across the US. The focus of this position is on our field sales force and fleet operations, as well as safety at branch locations.

Job Description:


* Develops, maintains, and implements safety/environmental procedures, programs, incentive programs, safety committees, and awareness material to reduce, control, and eliminate occupational, safety/environmental, and health hazards.

* Performs accident/loss investigations, conducts safety audits to ensure compliance with company & governmental regulations, and ensures understanding and enforcement of safety rules.

* Assesses needs at specific locations and provides special training programs, including Supervisor safety training and employee safety training programs.

* Serves as a resource and consultant for management, supervisors, and employees in order to effectively address safety issues and concerns.

* Maintains accident records, safety logs, and other supporting documentation for federal, state, and local compliance.

* Manages risk identification and helps to mitigate losses through periodic audits, loss analysis, site inspections, etc.

* Facilitates all government safety inspections for designated location(s) and responds in a timely manner with facility management to inquiries/inspections by loss control service provider and government agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Insurance Carrier, etc.).

* Oversees the implementation of corrective action arising from an accident investigation and hazard reports.

Position Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety Environmental Health Sciences or related professional certifications

* The ability to effectively present information in group settings to a wide variety of audiences

* Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

* Effective budget management experiences

* Strong data analysis and critical thinking skills

* Previous experience in the transportation industry and warehouse operations
