HR Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Serves as a resource to others within HR in the resolution of problems and issues

* Identifies process improvements within HR and makes recommendations accordingly

* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks and goals

* Responsible for maintaining employee files in compliance with applicable legal requirements

* Strong understanding of HR processes and data

* High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations, documentation and information

* Ability to escalate critical matters in a timely fashion to the appropriate resource

* Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills with a passion for data integrity, process definition, and continuous improvement

* Project member for various HR initiatives

* Supports in employee performance and relations issues

* Processes employment applications and conducts and/or assists in other employment activities including, but not limited to, new hire set-up, orientation and background check procedures and follow-up

* Works closely with Sun Country Leadership to support department initiatives

* Updates employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses via Ultimate Software

* Conducts data audit

* Supports benefit administration

* Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees.

* Assists in organizational training and development efforts.

* Responsible for aiding in the implementation of Company policy and procedure and working with leaders to interpret and execute policies

* Prepare reports for organizational needs (scheduled and ad hoc)

* Compliance

* FMLA Administration

* Unemployment claims management

* Processing and management (I-9, employment verifications)

* Other HR Programs as requested

* Responds to employee inquires in regards to all aspects of Total Rewards

* Assists in various Human Resources Department projects and other tasks as needed
