The Transition Advisor will support the Next program to provide focused, impactful supports for individuals ages 16-25 with Autism or learning differences. This role will empower individuals to navigate resources, increase independence and set and achieve goals. The Transition Advisor will work with individuals in a 1:1 ratio as well as facilitate group classes. The Transition Advisor will work 3-7 hours per week between the hours of 2:45 pm and 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to Arc Core Values of Respect, Collaboration and Empowerment
  • Manage caseload with required 1:1 sessions
  • Implement and modify curriculum for classes
  • Facilitate and/or co-facilitate classes based on setting goals, navigating resources and increasing independence
  • Provide personalized support that is aligned with programmatic goals and outcomes
  • Complete monthly evaluations for each individual on caseload
  • Maintain and update activities and resources focused on transition-aged individuals
  • Demonstrate and support all St. Louis Arc Diversity and Inclusion practices/initiatives

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Required Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in education, human studies or a related field
  • Other Requirements:
    • CPR/First Aid (St. Louis Arc provides training)
    • Other agency required training online/classroom
  • Minimum Years of Experience:
    • 2+ years working with transition age individuals (teens and young adults) with varying support needs

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge
    • Working knowledge of various technology platforms
    • Understanding of young adults and teens with learning difference and Autism
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Build and maintain relationships with individuals, families and other staff
    • Lead and guide teens and young adults in both individual and group settings
    • Facilitate curriculum in front of both small and large groups
    • Navigate resources including technology, applications and community based resources
