Job Purpose: The Senior Network Engineer’s role is to strategically design and implement information technology and networked architectures that support core organizational functions, and assure their high availability. This individual will gain organizational commitment for network systems and plans, as well as evaluate and select all technologies required to complete those plans. In addition, the Senior Network Engineer provides technical leadership across the organization, including strategic decision making and project planning.

Responsibilities Include:

Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate network systems. Ensure that proposed and existing network architectures are aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to Engineers, Administrators, Systems Architects, and software development teams. Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in network architecture. Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.

Document the company’s existing network architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives. Review new and existing network design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.

Confer with end-users, clients, or senior management to define business requirements for network systems and infrastructure development. Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models. Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and network technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement. Develop and manage a network capacity plan. Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing networks. Provide tier 3 support for network issues. Develop, test, and document business continuity and disaster recovery plans for the ACI Network infrastructure. Ensure proper governance and compliance with all security policies and security audit requirements.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, related area; or equivalent experience.

8 years of experience and extensive knowledge of various communication methodologies, topologies and technologies. Advanced TCP/IP experience including IP routing protocols such as BGP. Experience with Ethernet and Wide Area Networks, copper and fiber cabling.

5 years of experience working with network equipment and technologies such as routers, switches, wireless networking and WAN optimization. Advanced experience with Ethernet and MPLS networks, T1 and DS-3 circuits for voice and data transmission. In-depth experience with Cisco equipment is also required.

Experience working with network tools such as sniffers, Netflow analyzers and other network performance and monitoring systems.

Proven project management skills in a networking environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as mentoring and coaching skills.

Superior analytical skills.

Ability to travel on an as-needed basis.

Able to work outside of normal work hours to address emergencies and perform scheduled off-hour activities.

Preferred Education & Experience:

10 years of experience with networking technologies.

Experience working with Cisco branded wireless and radio communications technologies, including wireless LAN controllers and network bridges.

Experience working with various VoIP implementations, quality of service and class of service, and other voice technologies.

Experience supporting Apple iOS devices in an enterprise environment

Experience with a global network environment

Experience with cloud solutions (Azure, Oracle, AWS)

Experience with or knowledge of fiber optic communications.

Experience with or knowledge of the Linux operating system.

Experience or familiarity with process control engineering or field instrumentation.

Network-related certifications.
