Senior Actuarial Analyst (ACAS)

As a Senior Analyst, you will work on project teams focused on performing liability valuations, pure premium funding studies and rate indications for insurance company and corporate clients. Lines of business will include general property and casualty coverages, including reviews of asbestos liabilities from personal injury lawsuits and warranty exposures. You will be responsible for data preparation as well as producing and analyzing initial results. You will work closely with a variety of consultants and project managers who will help you increase your industry knowledge and sharpen your analytical skills – all while providing a blend of client facing skills as well.

The Role

You will contribute to varied and interesting projects such as:

* Quantification of liabilities related to personal injury asbestos lawsuits – Review liabilities of corporations and insurance company clients related to asbestos lawsuits. This will include quantification of ground-up liabilities as well as allocation to insurance coverage.

* Reviews of loss and unearned premium reserve liabilities related to warranty contracts.

* Self-Insurance and Captives – Valuation of liabilities, risk retention and optimization analyses, most notably for workers compensation and healthcare professional liability exposures

* Pricing and Predictive Modeling – Pricing studies for both personal and commercial lines of insurance, using both more traditional actuarial pricing methods, as well as advanced predictive modelling techniques

During the course of your work, you will:

* Work collaboratively with other associates and consultants to determine initial data needs, examine obtained client information and perform follow up work required to populate complete data sets

* Enhance your knowledge quantifying liabilities related to personal injury asbestos lawsuits, including allocation of liabilities to insurance coverage

* Seek and participate in key learning and development opportunities

* Prepare the first draft of reports for review by the consultant

The Requirements

* Three years of actuarial consulting experience, including at least one year of asbestos quantification experience

* Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Access

* Strong database skills; e.g., SQL

* Strong written and oral communication skills

* Well organized and detail oriented

* Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner

* Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate

* Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client service orientation

* Interest and ability to think beyond the task at hand and understand how one's work fits into the broader landscape

* Strong analytical skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way

* Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment

* Attained ACAS

* Bachelors' Degree required

* Relocation to St. Louis, MO
