To further our mission of helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live their best possible lives, the St. Louis Arc is seeking a enthusiastic and compassionate professional for the position of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). The Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for providing quality services to children with developmental disabilities in their homes, natural environments, or in an office setting. The Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for implementing individuals’ behavior or treatment plans and providing services, including planning sessions, implementing treatment protocols, taking required data, and monitoring progress.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to Arc Core Values of Respect, Collaboration, and Empowerment
  • Provide direct behavior analysis services using best practices and implement changes as clients’ needs change based on the data
  • Record data for each goal during each session and record data on a daily progress note along with a daily summary of progress detailing goals worked on, any changes or progress
  • Assist in creation of individual behavior therapy goals in accordance with the IEP, PCP, and/or ISP
  • Assess and provide feedback to consultants regarding consumers’ needs
  • Maintain regular communication with the BCBA, consumer’s family and/or staff/team to promote continuity in behavioral applications of strategies and to share successes
  • Team and department meetings
  • Maintain a confident, positive attitude when interacting with children, families and other professionals.
  • Demonstrates and supports all St. Louis Arc READI practices and initiatives
  • Participates in recurring meetings with BCBA supervisors
  • Provide supervision for BCBA candidates

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applied behavior analysis/science, psychology, education, special education, social work, or another human service field (Master’s preferred or pursing Master’s)

Other Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid auto insurance
  • Registered Behavior Technician certification a plus
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Training in Restraint Procedures (preferred)

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum one year experience working with young children with developmental disabilities (autism or behavioral challenges) or two years of experience in the Human Services field

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of:
    • Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), Naturalistic Interventions, Verbal Behavior, Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT)
    • Best practices for inclusion and family-centered philosophy
    • Typical and atypical child development
  • Communicate and work effectively as a team member
  • Comprehend oral/written instructions and communicate clearly
  • Maintain positive relationships with children and families

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Walking less than four hours per shift
  • Standing less than four hours per shift
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. floor to shoulders
  • Travel is required within the St. Louis Metro Area to meet with families and children
  • Work environment is a combination of home and classroom environments
  • Equipment consists of laptop and any other
