Estimating Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: The Estimating Manager has the primary responsibility of evaluating construction specifications and drawings and preparation of a comprehensive project estimate and proposal targeted projects.


  • Prepare and maintain status of bid documents
  • Review bid requirements thoroughly
  • Prepare a complete, accurate quantity take off to build an estimate
  • Assist with execution plans and win strategies
  • Prepare a thorough, detailed and well annotated estimate
  • Prepare a thorough and comprehensive proposal; including bid forms and supporting documentation as necessary
  • Subcontractor & Vendor solicitation and management during preconstruction process; prepare subcontractor bid packages, as required
  • Participate in peer bid review
  • Submit bidsand budgets on due dates
  • Follow-up with prior bid projects on a weekly basis and update status at weekly estimating meeting


  • Contract review (scope, schedule, price) for compliance with our bid proposal
  • Assist project manager if questions arise throughout the project about the estimate


  • Work with Business Development partners in developing relationships and targeting new opportunities
  • Cultivate existing client relationships


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, and/or 5-10 years of applicable estimating, design management and/or field management experience
  • Proven experience estimating self-performed earthwork and utilities
  • Experience working with MS Excel, OnScreen TakeOff and InSite Earthwork preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of construction principles/practices required
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors and/or self-perform work
  • Self starter. Highly motivated to bring results and success to the projects he/she leads
  • Ability to build trust and influence others internally and externally
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with core values
  • Maintains a "value added" approach to preconstruction
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate to varied audiences
