Purpose ofPosition

Providessupport services to families that are affiliated using various social work andeducational methods, including individual, and/or group family support, andcrisis intervention. This position is responsiblefor developing trusting, nurturing and supportive relationships with familiesover a long term intervention. Providestrength-based, child focused, family centered service based on the StrengtheningFamilies Protective Factors Framework. Theparent and child educator reports to a supervisor.

MajorDuties (*EssentialElement)

* Facilitatesvarious group and individual parent education classes, parenting classes i.e.Parent Child Together Classes, court mandated, and other required events andmeetings*

* Conductseducation programs both on site, in the community, or in a family's home

* Enrollsclients and assesses emotional and social needs of families

* Supportparents and help them to get their children off to a healthy start throughongoing assessment, education and support*

* Providesnecessary referrals to outside agencies for assistance in completing goals setby families

* Positionmay include home visitation duties using Healthy Families America Model andDHSS contract responsibilities

* Engagefamilies through a strength based approach that encourages the client to seetheir own strengths and make self-director efforts at change

* Establishawareness in the community regarding the program and work to ensure families inneed have information about how to access services*

* Maintainsfiles according to Great Circle requirements

* Participatesin staff meetings

* Utilizesa computer in preparing professional written reports and summaries for variousagencies within the established time frame

* Maytransport residents or clients on the job

* Capableof functioning independently, practicing good judgment and discretion indecision making and promote positive parenting and child development whilereducing the risk of child maltreatment*

* Demonstratedwillingness to work a non-structuredflexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends

* Performsall other duties assigned for the betterment of the organization

WorkingConditions

Working in atrauma informed office or home environment. Lighting and temperature adequate. May be exposed to noise and crisis-relatedbehavior from clients.

PhysicalDemands

To performthis job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily. This person must beable to hear, see, talk, and sit or stand at a personal computer for areasonable length of time typing and reading. Using hands to handle or feel,climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl is occasionally needed. Frequently lifting 25 pounds and occasionallylift 26 – 100 pounds. Qualifications

Strongcustomer service focus, excellent time management, oral and written communicationskills. Independent judgment is requiredto plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload with attention todetail. Proficient in Word and emailapplications. Must be able to workproductively and respectfully with individuals and families from diversecultural backgrounds.

RequiredEducation and Experience

Bachelor'sdegree in a human service area, family development or related area orAssociates degree in Child Development with 60+ college credit hours and aminimum of 2 years' experience working with children and families

Minimum oftwo years' experience working with children and families and demonstrateknowledge of child development practices

Possess acurrent, valid Class E driver's license and meet the organizations requirementsfor insurance.
