Omron Automotive Electronics is a company that designs and manufactures a range of advanced electronic and electromechanical components and systems that enhance vehicle safety and reliability for automakers around the world. We currently seek another talented individual to join our innovative team!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Cost Planning Manager, the Cost Planning Analyst utilizes existing Company processes to consolidate input from various departments into an accurate and timely Product Quote Sheet. He or she also actively participates in tracking of performance against quotes and assists in process improvement efforts in both cost planning and other functional areas (Purchasing, Design and Development, and Manufacturing).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Examples of specific responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

* Gathers design concept and costing details. Communicates with other departments to verify the accuracy of cost estimates.

* Reviews/audits Bill of Materials (BOM’s) to ensure they reflect all design changes.

* Interacts with design teams to ensure BOMs are accurate prior to submission to advanced purchasing and manufacturing.

* Tracks and summarizes changes in cost and profitability during the launch cycle of new products. Provides updated cost and profitability numbers based upon actual performance on quotes.

* Recognizes significant changes in customer requirements and ensures cost models reflect those changes.

* Reviews scope of design changes and/or quote requests with sales team, designers, and program managers.

* Holds departments accountable for meeting deadlines and escalates concerns as needed.

* Participates in department review of previously awarded business, including analysis of labor, materials, and overhead and investigation of variances.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Management/Administration or equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

5+ years of experience in Program Management or Cost Planning

Please note: Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.

TOOLS, TECHNIQUES, & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

* Knowledge of product costing/quoting processes is required.

* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate the activities of other departments and individuals, as required.

* Must have strong Microsoft Office skills.

* Familiarity with MRP systems and solid program management skills are preferred.
