The Registered Nurse in the Ambulatory Care setting manages the patient/family experience through utilization of critical thinking, teamwork, effective communication, and nursing judgment/knowledge/skills. May lead interdisciplinary case conferences in outpatient special care centers.
This position supports the Sutter Bridging Evidence Assessment & Resources Program (BEAR) clinic to assist law enforcement in collection of forensic evidence and documentation of injuries. The SAFE BEAR nurse will provide sexual assault patients with a medical screening examination, forensic evidence collection, injury documentation and provision of prophylactic medications for prevention of sexually transmitted infection and pregnancy. May be required to testify in court.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, including Licensure/ Certification/ Registration:
Current licensure California RN or Interim Permitee.
BLS -Health Care Provider.
Didactic training in both Adult and Pediatric evidentiary exam provided by the CA Clinical Forensic Medical Training Center or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) preferred.
Prior experience working in discharge planning and/or outpatient setting.
Outpatient or clinic experience to include knowledge and use of available resources and systems.
Skills / Knowledge:
Independently practices and prioritize multiple demands in a ever-changing environment.
Good interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) and teamwork skills is required.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing skills.
Effective English written and communication skills.
Knowledge of population-specific learning principles relative to patient teaching.
