Many families have a dream of owning their own home, but need help in making that dream a reality. NeighborWorks Sacramento works with hundreds of low and moderate income families each year to help them navigate the home ownership process and be best positioned to be successful home owners. Many of the families we work with need support to improve their credit scores and to develop a realistic budget that helps them also save money. NeighborWorks Sacramento does that through our free “Building Your Financial Future“ financial fitness program. our VISTA will help us develop our classes, do outreach to the community, and help ensure that the program addresses the needs of many types of individuals – including families with children, singles, and seniors needing support to keep their home. The VISTA will also help increase awareness of our other programs and services. This includes our foreclosure prevention counseling and the many benefits provided through our 2 Farmers Markets. Through our Farmers Market, we provide a dollar for dollar EBT (SNAP match) which doubles the purchasing power of SNAP families to purchase healthy, locally grown food. The Farmers Market also provides activities and resources to support nutrition education and healthy activities.
