We are growing our central engineering and power plant engineering teams and openings are available for talented engineers to join our team!

These are multi-level positions within the levels of Engineer Associate – Senior Consulting Engineer and the salary range varies and is commensurate with skills, experience, and education.

POSITION CONCEPT

These Associate Engineers through Senior Consulting Engineers positions are within the Electric Utility Energy Supply central engineering department as well as in the power plants. All positions require knowledge of and a commitment to the company's operating goals, policies, procedures and for the efficient execution of power plant projects.

Engineers should be involved in industry seminars/workshops to continue their technical expertise and develop new ways of developing solutions. On a periodic basis, assigned responsibilities will change/rotate within Energy Supply or to another company location to support personal development and to broaden company bench strength.

Primarily these positions:

* serve as technical leads on assigned large projects

* perform technical feasibility and engineering economic studies

* perform engineering and design in support of improving or maintaining generation unit capacity, availability and reliability

* perform engineering and design to meet new environmental regulations or to expand our generating facilities

* analyze and resolve complex operational issues

* troubleshoot equipment failures

* develop short and long-term corrective actions strategies and implement preventive and predictive maintenance procedures

* respond to emergent needs which may be outside of primary area of responsibility

* Big Bend Power Station, Apollo Beach, FL 33572

* Bayside Power Station, Tampa, FL 33619

* Polk Power Station, Mulberry, FL 33860

QUALIFICATIONS

* Candidates may qualify in this multi-graded position as an Associate Engineer to Senior Consulting Engineer based upon skills, experience and education as outlined in the Company's Engineer Career Path. Consideration for higher level position will require more experience directly related to the duties of the job in addition to meeting more of the preferred qualifications and requires more independent judgment, accountability and oversight, leadership and/or subject matter expertise in performance of this position.

Education

Required:

* Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program.

Preferred:

* Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering degree strongly preferred.

* Advanced degree from an accredited school in accordance with TECO Education Policy.

Licenses/Certifications

Required:

* Valid driver license with a good driving record.

Preferred:

* Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate.

* Professional Engineer (PE) License.

* Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida is strongly preferred.

* AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.

Experience

Preferred:

* Experience as an operations engineer for power generation facilities or related heavy industrial facilities.

* Two (2) years of experience as a design, process or project engineer for power generation industry or related heavy industrial facilities.

* Co-op experience in a power plant and/or electric utility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required: Knowledge of basic plant processes and chemical reactions is required. Ability to inspect utility boilers, ductwork, fans, pulverizers and other power plant equipment. A strong attention to detail, good planning skills, good written/verbal communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment and a heightened awareness for safety is required. Must possess leadership qualities and have team work skills

Preferred: Knowledge of power plant design and equipment. Knowledge of the thermal cycle of the power generation facility and how the applications of the steam generating equipment fit into and impact the cycle. Knowledge of NEC, ASME, AWS and NBIC Codes as applicable to the applicant's discipline.
